Introduction
Lund University has approximately 47,000 students and 8,800 staff, across 4 campuses. It offers many highlights, like the groundbreaking infrastructures such as the radiation facility MAX IV and the European Spallation Source (ESS). Within Sweden, Lund University is the 8th most attractive employer, according to Academic Work, ranking just below IKEA, Novo Nordisk, Google, Microsoft and Apple.
The four campuses show off different parts of the university. The main campus in Lund is surrounded by buildings from the Middle Ages and is mostly a student city. Campus Helsingborg near the Oresund straight offers lots of collaboration possibilities with industry and beaches. The School of Aviation lies in a more rural setting and is close to National Parks. The campus buildings in Malmö offer life in the 3rd largest city in Sweden full of events or even a short train ride to Copenhagen, Denmark.
Additionally, Lund University features many cultural highlights such as the Lund University botanical garden, the historical museum and the world renown museum of Artistic Process and Public Art.
History
Lund University, founded 1666, ranks among the top 100 universities worldwide and top 10 in sustainability. Highlights
- Lund University places itself among the top 100 universities of the world. The university is ranked 75th place in the QS Rankings 2025.
- Lund University is also ranked 8th in the world in Sustainability in the QS World University Rankings and has been awarded the QS Sustainability Champions Award.
- In 2023 Physicist Anne L'Huillier was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics. She is Lund University's first Nobel Prize laureate. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics along with Pierre Agostini and Ferenc Krausz.
- Lund is home to two of the world's foremost research facilities for materials research and life sciences, the synchrotron radiation facility MAX IV and the European Spallation Source (ESS). These facilities together with the new Lund University campus in Science Village will constitute a highly visible, world-leading center for research in materials and life sciences, cultural heritage and environmental science

Transport

Facilities
As a part of Lund University, both staff and students have access to a wide variety of facilities and services. There are a few quite unique facilities like:
- Venturelab and LU Innovation – the business incubator and university are working towards creating everyday value for researchers. Here, students and researchers can come with ideas and help build businesses or practical applications for the future.
- Pufendorf Institute is a place where any researcher can work once a week at the institute around a theme and collaborate with others based on their interests.
- Raoul Walenberg Institute for Human Rights working locally and internationally with human rights issues.
- Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entreprenurship working with world-class, action-oriented education for students and international stakeholders.

Accomodation
The University is primarily part of the city so most of the accommodations are private/commercial and can be found through most booking sites. There is however one temporary hotel for staff and students called LU Guest House. More information can be found on their website.
Culture, Arts, Sciences, and Society
Lund University is also home to many cultural and public centres, such as:
- The Botanical Garden of Lund University which cultivates thousands of plant species on eight hectares of land and attracts around 700,000 visitors a year.
- The university’s historical museum is the largest museum of archaeological finds, coins, and medieval church art in southern Sweden.
- The world-renowned Museum of Artistic Process and Public Art where you will find exhibitions of sketches, preparatory studies and models for public art.
Sports
One of the largest sports centres in Northern Europe, Gerdahallen offers reduced prices for students and staff to train.
Student Life and Associations
Student unions and student boards encourage active participate in improving the education and study environment. Students hold key positions to ensure the University is always held accountable.
The Academic Society (AF) organises a variety of events for students throughout the academic yeaR.

Additionally, Lund University values the student’s whole well-being.
- Student Health Counselling Center is available to help students ensure stress and mental health issues associated with studies are addressed and treated by counsellors.

Catering
While Lund University does not have a centralized cafeteria, this means the majority of the city’s restaurants are open for lunch and often have student prices. All sorts of cuisine and food preferences can be found.
