Approaching the notion of global health from a multidisciplinary and innovative perspective, and hoping to forge new cooperations overarching traditional disciplinary boundaries, the series of lectures is designed to present, explore and (re)interpret the changing connection between science and religion both from a historical perspective as well as the perspective of various disciplines, ranging from religious studies, sociology and history to medical humanities.
Confirmed topics so far are the following:
- Science and religion: are they compatible? (Dr. Róbert Péter, historian, University of Szeged)
- Religion and Mourning - private and public (Prof. Máte-Tóth, University of Szeged)
- Public Health Hazard or Miraculous Water? Science and Progress in Soviet-style Anti-religious Propaganda Films (Dr. Kinga Povedák, University of Szeged)
- Health, faith and social practice (Dr. Irén Annus, University of Szeged)
- Entrepreneurship and religion (Dr. Beata Glinka, University of Warsaw)
Since Open University is a multidisciplinary course, it is open to all levels and majors. Grades will be calculated based on an online exam, a multiple-choice quiz with questions from each lecture. Study material: the content of the online lectures. Recorded versions of lectures will be available for viewing after the event.
