Highlights
UiT is a medium-sized research university that contributes to knowledge-based development at the regional, national and international level, as the Arctic is of increasing global importance.
UiT's key research focuses on the polar environment, climate research, indigenous people, peace and conflict transformation, telemedicine, medical biology, space physics, fishery science, marine bioprospecting, linguistics and computational chemistry.
Life in the High North is shaped by wild nature, contrasting light and weather conditions, geographic distances and multiculturalism. Many of UiT´s research centres and study programmes reflect the specific character of Arctic Norway.
Services and Facilities
Transport
We recommend students arriving by plane to get a taxi. The trip is short and there is no direct transfer from the airport to the student housings.
Some of the student housings are in walking distance to the campus, or else connected by buses. There are a few grocery stores close to the student housings, but the city centre is never far off.
