UNIVERSITY OF NOVI SAD

The University of Novi Sad (UNS) has become internationally recognized as a strong research-oriented university, having intensive international cooperation with universities and research institutions worldwide in all areas of higher education and research. Due to its great diversity of expertise in various scientific fields – from natural sciences and mathematics, through technical and technological sciences, social sciences, to art – UNS represents one of the leading comprehensive universities in the region. 

The University of Novi Sad has been continuously working on its strategic goals to become more visible in the international research arena and recognised as an excellent university, due to the active participation of its researchers in large EU-funded research programmes, but also to their significant scientific production, reflected in its bibliometric indicators, institutional rankings and significant number of large EU-funded research projects implemented at its faculties and institutes. 

 One of the prime examples which prove this is the first teaming project selected within the HORIZON 2020 programme entitled Centre of Excellence for Advanced Technologies in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security (ANTARES) and initiated by the University’s BIOSENSE Institute. With this project, the University became the only university in the region implementing such a prestigious project. 

The top-cited researchers from UNS included in the standardised citation indicators’ database of the University of Stanford work in the fields of Psychology, Mechanics, Mathematics and Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, Pharmacology, Radiology, Physics, and Environmental Biology. The strong commitment of UNS to performing excellent research is mirrored in its prominent positioning in global ranking list, especially in scientific fields in which UNS has proven its excellence, namely: 

  • Food Science and Technology

  • Agriculture and Forestry

  • Hospitality and Tourism Management

  • Social Sciences and Humanities (Psychology)
  • Physical Sciences and Engineering
  • Biomedical and Health Sciences 

UNS and its faculties and institutes have invested significant efforts and resources into providing the necessary conditions for performing high quality research at the 250 scientific laboratories, research groups and diverse scientific libraries, as well as the accredited centres of excellence for Vibro-Acoustics and Signal Processing, Mathematical Research of Non-Linear Phenomenon, Reproductive Endocrinology and Signalling and the BioSense Institute. UNS will continue to support the process of boosting its research potential and production.
