Digital media use habits influence self-assessment and the definition of one's own mental and physical health. In this course, we will look at young people's media use habits through the lens of the moving image to explore patterns that can help us understand the self-management.

Students interested in the topic, especially those enrolled in film, media and communication studies are welcome for 3 ECTS.

Content and Methodology

Digital media have brought about fundamental changes in the media construction of identity, and this has an increasing impact on young people and their relationship to new technologies. The course aims to critically engage with these new identity formations mediated through new forms of moving images (video blogs, video selfies, video diaries, lifecasting, screenlife movies, TikTok shorts, etc.). In the second half of the workshop, participants will engage in a practical production exercise, creating their own short digital moving images that explore core analytical concepts.
