-Epidemiology is often described as the basic science of public health. In this course you learn how to study the distribution of disease in a population, and assess disease risks.

- Online course: Most activities are asynchronous with video lectures and online activities.

- There will  be 6 synchronous online seminars.

- Home assignments and online oral exam

Content and Methodology

Dive into the world of epidemiology with our comprehensive online Master's course, designed to equip students from all disciplines with foundational knowledge and practical skills in epidemiological principles and methods. Whether you're aiming to enhance your research capabilities or broaden your understanding of public health, this course is tailored to meet your needs.

The course covers basic principles and methods of epidemiology including measures of disease occurrence and risk in populations and various research designs for investigating the etiology of disease. After completing the course, the students should be able to apply central concepts in epidemiology, identify study designs used in scientific papers, explain sources of bias in epidemiological studies and reflect upon causality.  

The prerequisite for applicants is a bachelor degree. Interest in public health, global health or epidemiology is an asset.

- Maximum number of students are 45

- All teachers have a PhD degree in epidemiology and work daily with epidemiological studies

- Upon completing this course, you will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to critically appraise epidemiological literature and media headlines.

- This course awards 5 ECTS credits.

 

We will select the 45 students with the highest average

grade from their bachelor's degree; 5 from each

EUGLOH partner university. In case we do not have

enough applicants from a single university, we will select

additional students from other partner universities.
