The Occupational Safety, Global Health, and Sustainable Development course aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of how modern occupational health and safety (OHS) practices contribute to global economic growth, social inclusion, and sustainability, especially within the framework of European Union regulations.
By exploring the intersection of workplace safety with welfare economics, social equity, and environmental sustainability, the course seeks to develop the students' ability to design and implement OHS strategies that not only protect workers but also enhance business competitiveness and resilience. The course also addresses the challenges of globalization, helping students navigate the complexities of managing OHS in multinational organizations and global supply chains.

Content and Methodology
The course employs a dynamic learning approach designed to engage students through a blend of theoretical knowledge, practical applications, and real-world examples. The goal is to bridge the gap between occupational safety, global health, and sustainable development within the European context, promoting critical thinking and active participation. Each session is structured to provide comprehensive learning experience through the following components:
Interactive lectures: Each session begins with an introduction to the core concepts of the day, presented through visually engaging slides, infographics, and videos. Lectures incorporate the latest EU policies and global trends in occupational safety, welfare economics, and sustainability. Students will also explore case studies from industries and organizations, providing a practical framework for understanding the application of occupational safety measures in different contexts.
Collaborative workshops and group discussions: Following the lecture, students will participate in problem-solving workshops where they will analyze real-life scenarios based on the day’s topic. These practical segments are designed to foster collaboration and allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in a hands-on, structured way. Group discussions will enable students to engage in peer learning and debate solutions to complex challenges related to economic, social, and environmental aspects of occupational health and safety.
Applied learning projects: Throughout the course, students will work in groups on mini projects that tackle real-world OHS challenges within industries. These projects will simulate workplace scenarios and require students to integrate concepts of equal opportunities, social inclusion, and welfare economics. By applying tools like the OÎNBI framework (Occupational Health, Inclusion, and Well-being Index), students will develop actionable solutions that align with European Union directives and sustainability goals.
Instructors will provide ongoing guidance and feedback throughout the course. The interactive nature of the course allows for open dialogue and critical reflection, encouraging students to actively participate in discussions and refine their understanding of the subject matter.
