Subject. Emergency: resuscitation and other life-threatening situations response.

 

In this course the following skills, situations and topics will be approached:

 

  1. Safety at the scene and safe approach.
  2. The ‘chain of survival’.
  3. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  4. Automated External Defibrillation (AED).
  5. ‘Stop the bleed’ campaign: skills and protocol.
  6. Responding to ‘choke’ (foreign body airway obstruction)
  7. Hartford Consensus: ‘THREAT’ & ‘Run-Hide-Fight’ protocols.
  8. Resilience at the University Campus: spreading the word.

The course consists of 4 days of in-person teaching and 1 additional day online.

Staff from Lund University will also teach some of the sessions. 

A B2 Level of English is needed.

Content and Methodology

Online lectures, presentations, training on CPR+AED+other emergency scenarios both in adults and pediatric patients: Simulated based learning, mixed virtual reality (VR) for critical incidents, problem-based learning, crisis resource management (CRM), “pit crew attitude” and teamworking will be used as methodologies.

In one session innovative learning throughout virtual reality (immersive experience with VR-googles) will be used.

Pre and post tests and wrap-up sessions will be possible after a flipped learning and flipped teaching approach
