The EUGLOH Language & Culture Survival Backpack brings together students from across the EUGLOH Alliance to discover new languages, cultures and perspectives.
The programme consists of six 60-minute online tutorials introducing you to a new language and its associated culture, led by local student tutors from EUGLOH partner universities. In small, interactive groups, you will get a taste of a new language, discover the local culture, and connect with fellow students from across Europe.
The 2026 edition will take place from 2 November to 11 December 2026.
The programme is open to Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students from all EUGLOH partner universities.
No previous knowledge of the language is required for the beginner groups.
Seven languages are available in the 2026 edition:
French – Université Paris-Saclay
Portuguese – University of Porto
Spanish – University of Alcalá
Hungarian – University of Szeged
Serbian – University of Novi Sad
Norwegian – UiT The Arctic University of Norway
By taking part, you will:
discover the basics of a new language and culture with a local student tutor;
gain useful cultural and practical insights, particularly if you are considering an Erasmus+ or other mobility experience;
meet and exchange with students from other EUGLOH universities in a small and interactive setting;
receive a Certificate of Participation if you attend at least 5 of the 6 tutorials.
All tutorials take place online.

Once you have registered for the activity, you will automatically receive an email with a form asking you to provide further details about your language preferences and availability.
In this form, you will be asked to indicate your preferred language and group, as well as a second choice and, optionally, a third choice in case no places are available for your preferred option.
You will then be contacted with confirmation of your allocated language course and further information on how to join the online tutorials.
