GO-create to Co-create: EUGLOH Strengthens Collaborations at EAIE Conference in Gothenburg

Held by the European Association for International Education, the EAIE 2025 Conference and Exhibition welcomed thousands of professionals from around the world to the Svenska Mässan exhibition centre in Gothenburg. EUGLOH shared a booth with fellow European University Alliance EUniWell – the European University for Well-Being, offering attendees a shared space to learn about the alliances’ efforts in reimagining the future of higher education. The booth served as a lively hub throughout the event, where delegates could engage directly with both alliances’ representatives, discover ongoing projects, and explore opportunities for future partnerships.
A highlight of EUGLOH’s presence was an informal get-together hosted at the booth on Thursday, 11 September. This gathering brought together members of the EUGLOH community and colleagues from partner institutions, offering a chance to network in a relaxed, in-person setting while strengthening personal and institutional ties.
“It’s been inspiring to see our members and partners from across Europe -and even beyond- so open to sharing ideas on how to start or how to deepen our cooperation in an innovative and inclusive manner. The atmosphere here really encourages us to meet up to continue our ongoing conversations and move forward in our partnerships, but also to open up new conversations based on the sessions we attend and the people we meet” said Anouk Deana, EUGLOH’s Policy Advisor and External Affairs Officer.
Beyond the exhibition floor, EUGLOH’s academic and administrative staff were actively involved in the conference programme, contributing to a range of sessions that reflected the Alliance’s broad expertise and ongoing initiatives. Representatives from the University of Alcalá led three separate poster sessions, covering topics such as the use of social media to engage younger audiences, the potential of COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) for engineering education, and innovative strategies for integrating English into classrooms across disciplines. Each of these sessions offered practical insights into how internationalisation can be embedded within curricula and communication strategies.
Lund University contributed to two World Café sessions, which focused on the engagement of academic staff in curriculum internationalisation and on the application of the stakeholder model in internationalisation at home (IaH) within vocational and higher education. Lund University also participated in a panel session addressing the increasingly urgent topic of responsible international partnerships in today’s complex geopolitical climate.
By embracing the theme of “GO-create”, EUGLOH demonstrated that co-creation is a daily practice that spans multiple countries, disciplines, and institutional cultures. The shared stand with EUniWell underscored EUGLOH’s belief in enriching cooperation among alliances, echoing broader collaboration through FOREU4ALL. EUGLOH was very proud to be part of a total of 35 alliances who were represented with a booth at the exhibition, giving strong visibility to the European Universities Initiative.
As EUGLOH continues its work across its nine member universities and with its external partners, the momentum built at EAIE 2025 will no doubt fuel new initiatives, partnerships and ideas.
