An Expedition with Purpose

Aboard the sailing vessel Statsraad Lehmkuhl, participants will study the complex environmental and socio-economic changes that the Arctic has undergone in recent decades. By identifying key trends and analysing long-term impacts, participants will explore possible, probable, and preferable futures for the region. This approach focuses on medium- to long-term perspectives, encouraging innovative thinking on the Arctic’s sustainable future.

Course Overview and Objectives

The Arctic Future Pathfinders course will be conducted in two legs as part of the One Ocean Expedition II:

Participants will examine the Arctic’s unique environmental challenges, including the effects of climate change on ecosystems and the socio-economic shifts impacting Arctic communities. Guided by field experts and enriched by interdisciplinary collaboration, students will develop the skills necessary to create future scenarios that can help guide policy, research, and community action in the region.

Collaborative Learning on a Sailing Vessel
